Explore the Brookline, MA Neighborhood
Sitting below Boston's iconic neon CITGO sign is the vibrant Kenmore Square/Fenway neighborhood. Best known as the long-time home of Fenway Park and the Boston Red Sox, residents and visitors are drawn to the area for its lively nightlife along Lansdowne Street, cool mix of restaurants and bars, and convenient location. Kenmore Square is the convergence of Commonwealth Ave, Brookline Ave and Beacon Street. The Kenmore T subway station lies underground, with a bus terminal above ground, making the area easily accessible.
Recently, new hotels have opened alongside high-rise apartments and condo developments. An influx of dining and nightlife options, and additional office and retail spaces, have revitalized the neighborhood. Kenmore/Fenway has a distinctive youthful vibe, as Boston University, Simmons University, Emmanuel College and other schools make their home nearby. Lush greenery surrounds the area as residents stroll along Commonwealth Avenue or explore the paths and open spaces along Fenway's portion of the Emerald Necklace. The neighborhood is also notable for its access to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Museum of Fine Arts and Symphony Hall.
With the Citgo sign serving as a beacon since 1965, and baseball fans drawn to the "lyric little bandbox of a ballpark," as John Updike called Fenway Park, it is easy to see why the Kenmore Square/Fenway neighborhood is captivating to both residents and visitors alike.
